Service:

There is no fee for original service of process fee because of 23 Pa. C.S. Section 6106 (g.1). If she needs an order served on Ron in Pennsylvania there is no service fee.

The local county sheriff in the jurisdiction is responsible for serving the order.
Custody:

PA has not passed UCCJEA

Guns:

Officers will confiscate weapons if Ron follows Michelle to PA.

Notification:

If Michelle registers an out of state O/P in PA, PA will not notify Ron. The answer is not specific in PFA act but is covered in VAWA that states they are not suppose to give notice to the defendant.

Registry:

The PSP Registry is compatible with NCIC but there is no state database compatible with another state’s database.

If Ron follows Michelle to PA, the police will check NCIC and PSP Registry.

Contact Person:

If the police couldn’t decide whether or not Michelle’s O/P was facially valid, they would probably contact district attorney or the main court, cops might as well.

She would be eligible for a battered women’s shelter.

Definition of Terms:

23 Pa. C.S. section 6102 “Family or household members – spouses or persons who have been spouses, persons living as spouses or who have lived as spouses, parents and children, other persons related by consanguinity or affinity, current or former sexual or intimate partners or persons who share biological parenthood.”

Police arrest requirements apply to anyone covered under the PFA act.
